KNOT Yacht Services are compliant with the terms of 1.4 of the MLC 2006 and as such we have enforced several points to ensure a yachts compliancy also.
We require that the Captain of the yacht provides us with the yacht’s MLC 2006 Certificate.
We ask our clients to confirm your contract details with you prior to your commencement, where this is possible.
Your SEA (Seafarers Employment Agreement) should contain information that the owner has the means to protect you (the crew member) from being stranded in a foreign port. It is advised under the convention that you should have sighted your SEA prior to boarding the yacht.
KNOT Yacht Services also has ensured that our operations comply with the MLC 2006 convention as follows:
As a crew member you should know that once you are employed and live and work onboard there may be disciplinary procedures consistent with national laws, which should be explained in full detail in your SEA. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have read and understood any disciplinary procedures, Code of Conduct expected and Standing Orders.

BOOKINGS via ACADEMY:
When a confirmed booking is made by the 'Company student' and accepted by KNOT Yacht Services Limited (hereafter referred to as the 'Company') a binding contract shall be held to exist between both parties (the 'Company' and the 'Company student').
No liability shall be taken on by either the 'Company student' or the 'Company' if either is prevented from fulfilling any of their contractual obligations by any incidence of force majeure; including acts of God (natural disaster, workplace fire, flood), strikes, or other similar major event which is beyond the control of either party.
In the event of any dispute arising from the terms and conditions of this contract, it shall be referred to a mutually acceptable mediator whose decision shall be binding to both parties. It is understood that the 'Company student' will compensate the 'Company' for any non-insurable claims that may be made against them for damage or loss caused by the 'Company student' or by members of their party whether intentional or through negligence.
WAYS TO BOOK:
1. Confirmed bookings can be made through the website - (see payment clause below).
2. Payment: A 50% deposit payment is required to secure your spot in one of our available courses. The remaining balance is due 1 month prior to the course start date. Only with prior arrangement will payment plans or late payments be accepted. Credit card/debit card are our accepted methods of payment via PayPal. On receipt of your deposit, a confirmation email and tax invoice will be sent to you outlining your selected course and any useful information relevant to the course. All bookings will be held for a maximum of 7 days and will not be confirmed until the deposit payment has been received.
CANCELLATION OR RESCHEDULING:
If a booking is cancelled or rescheduled inside 30 days to the course's start date, this must be done in writing by the person who completed the booking and will deem to take effect once received by the 'Company'.
If the deposit to secure a place in a course has been made and the student then cancels or reschedules inside 30 days, an administration/service fee of $250 + GST will be charged.
Cancellations or rescheduling of bookings made between 30 and 15 days will incur a loss of the deposit paid (50% payment of course cost).
There will be no refunds given for any cancellations made inside 15 days of the course's start date. If a student chooses to leave or abandon a course before the scheduled finish date and time for whatever reason, no refunds will be given.
Any course material that has been issued to the student must be returned to the 'Company' before of the deposit (minus deductions) is refunded.
In the event of the 'Company' having to cancel a course without offering any acceptable alternative then the 'Company student' shall be entitled to a full refund of monies paid and no further liability shall be incurred by the 'Company'.
The 'Company student' agrees to advise the 'Company' in writing of any medical disability or illness that may adversely affect the student's ability to participate in the course they have chosen. It shall be at the discretion of the 'Company' to refuse to accept a booking from a student where there is unacceptable risk to the party and the 'Company' in doing so.

KNOT Yacht Services Limited shall not be held liable for death, personal injury, loss or damage to property howsoever arising and therefore by signing this booking form, you hereby release to the full extent permitted by the law and in equity, the 'Company', its' employees and contractors from all actual and contingent liability in respect of such personal injury, death, loss or damage.
