If you're aiming for a deckhand role on a superyacht, this qualification is essential. Across three days — one day of theory and two days on the water — you’ll build the practical skills and confidence needed to safely operate tenders and small powerboats, a core part of daily life on deck. You’ll learn practical boat handling, launching and recovery, safety procedures, VHF radio use, anchoring, rope work, and more, all delivered to the standards expected in the global superyacht industry. This course qualifies you to:
Ideal for anyone starting a career on deck, this internationally recognised certification adds real value to your CV and prepares you for the day-to-day demands of working on board.

This one-day course is essential for anyone working on board a superyacht. It covers the safe and correct use of marine VHF radios — equipment you'll use every day, whether you're driving tenders, assisting with guest transfers, or communicating with the bridge.
The IYT Marine Communications (VHF-SRC) certificate is internationally recognised, including by the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and meets global standards for both recreational and commercial operators. You’ll learn how to confidently operate fixed and handheld radios, understand EPIRBs, SARTs, AIS, and DSC-enabled systems, and follow correct communication procedures in both routine and emergency situations.
If you’re using a radio on board (and you will be), this course gives you the knowledge and confidence to communicate clearly, professionally, and safely.
